Children are encouraged to bring in a bottle of water for consumption throughout the day.
Lunchtime Arrangements
Our Midday Assistants are responsible for supervising specific year groups during lunch.
Our school meals are provided by Aspens Services in our on-site canteen.
With the introduction of Mayor’s Meals for the academic year starting in September 2023, all Junior school children are now entitled to a free hot lunch. There are four menu options available daily; red, blue, yellow and green – which we encourage parents to discuss with their child. The current menu can be viewed HERE.
Packed lunches can also be brought and should be in a container marked with your child’s name and class. Healthy options could include for example, pieces of fruit and yoghurt. Each child can bring in his/her own drink, but no cans, glass bottles or fizzy drinks, peanuts or boiled sweets are allowed. A drink of water is available for each child.
We are a nut free school. This includes any foods that contain nuts eg peanut butter and Nutella.
If you are in receipt of family credit or income support, it is possible your child is entitled to free School meals. Forms for this are available on request from the School office. To apply for Free School Meals in Havering, please Click Here
Valuables
Children should be discouraged from bringing valuables into School. No necklaces or rings should be worn. Earrings should be studs only. These must be removed for PE, games and swimming lessons. No responsibility is taken by the School or local education authority for any item lost.
Medicines in School
The Authority rule is that no medicines can be given because of the possibility that they might be inappropriate or cause a reaction in particular cases. However, asthma related equipment can be kept in the medical room and the welfare assistant at this School, who has a first aid certificate, will assist the children if necessary.
If your doctor has prescribed any medication which has to be taken four times a day (e.g. antibiotics) a form, which is available from the school office, will need to be completed to give permission for the school to administer a dosage during the day.
Accidents and Emergencies
If your child is taken ill at School or has an accident, it may be necessary to contact you urgently. Please make sure you keep the School informed of any change of address, telephone number, place of work, hours of work and mobile / work telephone number. New parents will be asked to fill in a form that asks for this information. If you or your emergency contact cannot be reached immediately and your child requires hospitalisation a member of staff will accompany your child to the local hospital and will wait there with your child until one of you arrives.
