Our Art and Design curriculum fully engages children and equips them with the knowledge and skills needed to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Children are able to develop their confidence, imagination and ability to express their thoughts and feelings and our ‘Kapow’ scheme of work enables effective progression of skills throughout each year group.
Our Artists
Knowledge: Children develop knowledge and understanding of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. They will develop an understanding of a variety of techniques used by famous artists and factors that influenced their artwork and they will learn how to evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design.
Skills: Children will develop the key skills associated with Art and Design including the development of painting and drawing, sculpture and 3D work, printing, textiles and collage. Children will be able to explore their ideas and record their experiences, as well as evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
Experiences: Children will use their skills to express themselves creatively, both individually and in groups. Children have the chance to work collaboratively in our whole school ‘Art Days’ where year groups work together to create themed displays.
Celebrations
To engage our school community, we share and celebrate Ardleigh Green learning experiences in our school Twitter feed.
Curriculum Planning
Careful curriculum planning ensures that our pupils build on existing knowledge and skills over the course of their learning journey. This leads to better understanding, knowledge retention and engagement.
