Computing

Computer scientists at Ardleigh Green Junior School understand how common computer systems work, regularly use various applications and technologies, and participate in the digital world. We want our pupils to be creators, not just consumers of technology, and our broad curriculum, which encompasses computer science, information technology and digital literacy, reflects this thoroughly.

Our Computer Scientists

Knowledge: Our pupils will develop an understanding of how systems function and the tools available to them when creating digitally. They will also understand the foundational ideas of coding, including abstraction, sequencing and logical reasoning.

Skills: Our pupils will be able to write and debug algorithms; plan, create and evaluate projects for different purposes; and responsibly decide how to use the internet safely.

Experiences: Creating projects with a variety of applications and devices, participating in computing events such as Safer Internet Day, and much more.

Curriculum Planning

Careful curriculum planning ensures that our pupils build on existing knowledge and skills over their time in Key Stage Two. This leads to better understanding, knowledge retention and engagement.
