The Governing Body

Welcome from our Chairman of Governors

On behalf of the governing body, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Ardleigh Green Junior School.

We are a three form entry Junior School in the London Borough of Havering, sharing a site with Ardleigh Green Infants' School from where the majority of our children transfer. In addition to our school site we have our own Family Centre in Ardleigh Green Road which actively seeks to meet the needs of our local community.

Our headteacher John Morris OBE, who has been in post for  twenty five years, leads a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff committed to ensuring our children reach their full potential within a caring and supportive learning environment.

We have been judged by Ofsted to be outstanding on three occasions and are justifiably proud of our academic, sporting and artistic success and the excellent relationship we enjoy with parents and the local community.

I hope you find our website informative. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

Governor Body  Information

The Governing Body of Ardleigh Green Junior School was reconstituted in June 2015. The Governing Body currently consists of the headteacher, John Morris, the chairman of Governors, William Jennings and nine governors.

The Governing Body discharges its duties through a termly full governing body meeting and two sub committees, which meet half termly.

The Finance and General Purposes Committee monitors all financial matters, health and safety and safeguarding.

The Learning and Achievement Committee monitors school improvement, teaching and learning and pupil progress.

The work of our Family Centre is overseen by the Full Governing Body.

A termly Governing Body Forum, led by the Chairman, headteacher and deputy headteacher allows governors to observe teaching and learning throughout the school and to discuss matters in relation to school improvement, pupil progress and organisation and management.

Governing Body Skills Audit

Governors are required to complete an annual skills audit to ensure that collectively the Governing Body has the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to effectively monitor school performance. In addition, governors are required to undertake regular training in relation to governance and educational matters. This training is led either by the school or the local authority.
