Ardleigh Green and the National Scratch Maths Project

22 Jun 2017

 Scratch Maths

As part of their mathematics curriculum our current Year 6 pupils have been involved in an exciting project run by University College London (UCL) and Sheffield Hallam University. The project, “Scratch Maths,”* is designed to improve children’s mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding through coding using the Scratch program. The children have helped  evaluate curriculum resources which are now an integral part of our mathematics curriculum..

Last week we welcomed Dame Celia Hoyles and Piers Sanders to school. They observed teaching and learning, talked to the children about the projects and gave feedback to myself and governors.
They were both very impressed with our children’s knowledge , understanding and application of Scratch and the way staff have used Scratch to enhance and extend our maths curriculum. They loved our school!!
