Summer Term Sports Report

03 Jul 2015

Sport Report Summer 2015

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded Sainsbury’s school Games mark Gold and Youth Sports Trust Kite mark Gold for the standards and achievements in PE in our school. We have had a wonderful summer season at Ardleigh Green. Clubs have included: trigolf, cricket, football, athletics, water polo, street dance, netball, tennis, basketball. These clubs have been run by staff of the school, by Stretch UK and various professional clubs. The Year 6 children had a fantastic week at Sealyham and at activity week. All the children worked hard at new activities and achieved a great deal.
In athletics, the Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 Quadkids team both won their Year group cup and became Havering Champions.  Outstanding performances were by Billy Titley, Erin Gibson, Daisy May Davey and Ryan Battrum who were top overall athletes in Havering with Ryan Lowe, Callie Bovill and Timi Olundanjoye 2nd and James Okoro and Rebecca Heath 3rd .Freya Higginbottom and Keitan Adedeji are Havering Long Jump Champions, Ryan Lowe, Billy Titley and Isabelle Fallows are Havering 600 metre run champions and Timi Oludanjoye became Havering Throwing Champion.
Year 5 and 6 then went on to Crystal Palace and competed in the London Youth Games (Greater London Championships) against 33 boroughs and came 1st , winning the Gold.Ryan Lowe was placed 2nd overall with Erin Gibson 4th and Lily Rose Birch 5th.Ryan came 3rd in the sprint and long distance and James with 3rd in long jump.
Our Year 5 and 6 Trigolf team competed at Royal Liberty School and came 1st in Havering, winning the cup. They represented Havering at the London Youth Games at Crystal Palace and came 4th-just missing the bronze.
Our netball team narrowly lost the Havering semi- final to Oakfields but played brilliantly. Our gym team came 2nd in the Year ¾ competition and Yr. 5/6 competition. All the children performed brilliantly. Thanks to Mrs Pollard for her support and Miss Whelan and Miss Sheenan. Our Year 5 and 6 basketball teams came 2nd and 3rd in the Havering Championships. They played very well indeed.
Our Year 4 tag rugby team became Havering Champions and won a silver cup. They got a golden goal in the final. Thanks to Cerys Freeman’s family for their support. Thanks for running the team Mrs Everitt.
Our Year 5 cricket team competed in the Havering Championships and came 6th against Year 6 children. Our Year 6 Girls played cricket brilliantly at Rainham Cricket Club to come 2nd in Havering and went on to represent Havering at the London finals held at Richmond Cricket Ground. One year 4 and one mixed 5 and 6 cricket teams will compete in the Havering Cricket championships at Rainham Cricket Ground. Thanks you Mr.Harris.
For the first time we entered a water polo tournament, and although we lost, we hope to use the experience in the future to improve.
Three year 6 boys, Jaiden Buntin, Ryan Lowe and William Osborne have represented Havering in the Havering football and won both London and Essex Championships. This is the first time Havering has done this. Jaiden and Brooke Burkert also represented Havering at the London Youth Games and reached the quarter finals.
Some Year 4 children competed at Cranston Park Tennis Club for the Havering Championship and gained 3rd place. Out tennis children also played a match against St. Thomas’ School but unfortunately lost the tournament.
Our 5 a day fitness pentathlon team won the first ever 5 a day fitness live competition. Megan Love was the top girl in the competition. They all received prizes.
Mrs Tucker from the Sports Collective helped our Sports Crew to run a lower school multi - sports afternoon in June where the cup was won by.
A group of children went to Coopers School and entered a GRFF festival (Go Run for Fun) they received a free T shirt and there were 600 children there.
We look forward to seeing you on Sports Day so you can see all your amazing children in action and we hope you will join in too! Thanks to Lloyds bank for their support.
